Libya is once again opening up to the world, allowing the most intrepid travellers to explore one of the most spectacular and unknown deserts on the planet. After years of instability, the country is recovering its essence and inviting us to discover its vast territory, where sand and rock have sculpted landscapes of breathtaking beauty. For lovers of the Sahara, it is an essential destination, with some of the highest and most majestic ergs.
On this expedition, after 10 previous editions, we will enter the Fezzan region, a territory of history and contrasts. We will explore the oasis of Erg Awbari, where dunes embrace hidden lakes in the desert, and Jebel Akakus, a national park with imposing rock formations and cave paintings dating back more than 8,000 years. We will be amazed by the immensity of the Erg Murzuq, with its endless sea of dunes, and we will be able to visit the lakes of the Daoudas, where the water resists in the middle of the desert. In addition, we will discover the majestic Roman ruins of Sabratha, witnesses to the splendor of an ancient civilization.
Traveling through Libya is immersing ourselves in a true adventure, far from conventional tourism. There are no luxuries or comforts, but there is the reward of traveling through a virgin territory, where nature shows itself in its purest state. Exploration is strictly regulated: it is mandatory to travel with a local agency and have a government representative, which guarantees safety at all times.
