Mauritania – Shell Raid Adventure Through the Sahara Desert is a 14-day expedition through Sub-Saharan Africa, exploring the vast landscapes of Mauritania and its desert scenery. The route begins in Spain with a ferry crossing from Algeciras to Tangier MED, followed by a journey south through Morocco, passing through cities such as Safi, El Aioun, and Dakhla. Upon crossing the border into Mauritania, the route continues to Nouadhibou and Bou Lanuar before venturing into the heart of the desert.
The journey includes visits to iconic locations such as Ben Amira, home to the third-largest monolith in the world, and Atar, a key city for exploring the ancient towns of Ouadane and Chinguetti, both designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The expedition also reaches the Guelb er Richat crater, a striking geological formation visible from space. The adventure features routes through tracks, dunes, and mountain passes like Tifoujar, offering breathtaking views of the Mauritanian desert.
After several days of desert exploration, the group will reach the Atlantic coast, passing through the Banc d’Arguin National Park, a sanctuary for migratory birds. From there, the journey heads north, re-entering Morocco to travel along the Atlantic coast to Marrakech, before continuing to Tangier MED, where the ferry back to Spain will be taken.
